Bekah: On it.

A few minutes later a message pops up and there's the number. I look at the time and know that Alaska is four hours behind me. If she's in Alaska at her bookstore like she's told everyone, then she'll answer.

I dial the number and when a different voice picks up and identifies the store, I almost take my frustration out on the young girl, but then in the background, I hear her.

"Can I speak to the owner, please?"

"Just a moment, sir." She places me on hold, and soft classical music fills the silence.

"Hello, this is Betsy." Her voice comes across the line. I almost stutter when I realize she had to assume her old identity.

"I miss you too and I will be seeing you soon, so don't you run, woman. I have lots I need to tell you." I want to tell her I want her to be my future. I want to tell her I've fallen in love with her, but I don't want to do that over the phone.

"Greg," she whispers.

"Damn straight." I don't say her name just in case the line isn't secure. "Now please, don't do anything stupid before I get there."

"Please." I don't know what she's begging for, but I know I need to get off this line for her.

"Remember I have things to tell you. Goodbye, beautiful."

"Bye." She’s so quiet as I hang up.

I must stay in the hotel for the weekend until my meeting with the DC Metro detectives and Santa Fe detective on Monday. I flop down onto the bed and turn on the TV trying to do something mindless, but my mind won't shut off. All the various scenarios go through my head. Taliah and I are supposed to be entering through a secure entrance, but if I was on this, I would have every entrance covered. I've seen a sniper take out a prisoner right outside the main precinct of DC Metro. We need to be better prepared, so I end up grabbing my laptop and working out different situations to send to Noah, who stayed in New York, and to Joshua. I fall asleep hours later from exhaustion.
